📉Messy Misinformation 🤯
How the Spreading Simplistic Narratives Undermine the Critical Conversations that Shape Our Culture.
This article amplifies the voices that are often overlooked in discussions surrounding gender ideology. The voices of innocent children and that of detransitioners who are often left invisible and unheard to mainstream society. My aim is to provide you my reader with additional facts and advocate for a more balanced conversation on gender identity and transition
In today’s cultural climate, where social media dominates public discourse, misinformation spreads faster than ever. This is particularly evident in conversations around gender ideology, where complex medical and social issues are often reduced to bite-sized memes. These memes, while often well-intentioned, can have far-reaching consequences—especially when there is an agenda involved, young minds are at question and or they oversimplify or distort critical topics like hormone blockers.
A recent experience brought this issue into sharp focus for me. An acquaintance I knew during my transitioned life, who is deeply involved in LGBT advocacy and passionate about youth education and LGBT sexual health, shared a meme on social media.
Captioned with the phrase “The more you know,” it aimed to educate about the use of hormone blockers in children by presenting a list of what they supposedly do and don’t do. However, the statements in the meme were riddled with inaccuracies, spreading misinformation that not only misleads but also undermines the credibility of those seeking honest factual dialogue about these critical issues.
As someone who has gone through both transition and currently on a journey though detransition, I felt compelled to respond, and so I commented with just four words: “I do not agree.” This brief response aimed at opening up a conversation was enough to have me promptly blocked and cut out of the conversation entirely. My attempt at opening op a conversation—based on personal experience and the scientific realities of transitioning—was dismissed without consideration.
It was clear that this woman behind the post had an agenda that prioritized a particular narrative within the LGBT community, one that often leaves no room for differing opinions or open dialogue. Sadly, in recent times, toxic discourse like this within the LGBT community has become increasingly common. At times, these interactions escalate into hostility or even violence, especially when differing perspectives challenge the agendas narrative.
So, in this space, I would like to foster a more balanced conversation, break down this toxic meme that came from website called: mygenderation address its claims and talk about the realities behind them. This I feel is a fair conversation that lends a voice to children as well as those who have taken hormone blockers and other treatments to transition but now live with regret.
The Meme: Oversimplified and Misleading
The meme in question divides the effects of hormone blockers into two categories. At first glance, this might appear reassuring. It seems to convey that hormone blockers are a harmless, temporary solution designed to help young people navigate difficult decisions.
However, when scrutinized, each of these claims falls apart under the weight of evidence and scientific critique. Should this type of misinformation and others like it be in front of so many eyes? What about the people that spread it? Who should be accountable for their influence?
Feel free to let me know in the comments what you think about the spreading of misinformation when it comes to a social contagion like gender Ideology. I love to hear feedback on the topics I write about, and it helps this space grow!

What Hormone Blockers Do—The Myths vs. The Reality 💊
Claim: 📢 Hormone blockers "pause puberty” supposedly to help parents and kids make informed decisions.
Reality: 🔍 Puberty is a critical developmental phase that shapes physical, emotional, and cognitive growth. Blocking puberty disrupts this process, potentially leading to long-term issues such as reduced bone density and delayed brain development.
Claim: 📢 Hormone blockers "decrease dysphoria”
Reality: 🔍 While hormone blockers may provide temporary relief from gender dysphoria in some transgender youth, could it be a placebo effect? The long-term impact on dysphoria is not well understood.
Claim: 📢Hormone blockers "reduce suicidal ideation in transgender youth."
Reality: 🔍 The link between hormone blockers and reduced suicidal ideation is often overstated. While some studies suggest a correlation, they rarely account for pre-existing mental health conditions or the influence of supportive environments. The long-term efficacy of blockers in reducing distress remains unproven.
Claim: 📢 Hormone blockers give young people time to solidify their transgender identity.
Reality: 🔍 While hormone blockers may delay physical puberty, allowing young people more time to explore their gender identity, the claim that they provide a crucial "time" to solidify a transgender identity is controversial. Some argue that these treatments may reinforce an identity that could later change.
Supporting Evidence: 📚 Delaying puberty with blockers may not improve mental health outcomes and could delay the exploration of alternative, non-medical paths for resolving gender dysphoria. In fact recent reports found that an NIH-funded researcher intentionally withheld scientific data from the American public showing that puberty blockers do not improve the mental health of children with “gender dysphoria."

What Hormone Blockers Don’t Do - Debunking the Assumptions 💊
Claim: 📢 Puberty blockers do not ruin the lives of innocent young people.
Reality: 🔍 Studies show that these treatments not only have sever physical effects but may not improve mental health outcomes at all and could delay the exploration of alternative, non-medical paths for resolving gender dysphoria.
Claim: 📢 Puberty blockers don't cause irreversible damage.
Reality: 🔍 Of course, as we have already covered how puberty blockers can have long-term effects on bone density and fertility, potentially causing irreversible harm. As well as the potential mental effects among those who undergo these treatments.
Supporting Evidence: 📚 Some organizations like the American College of Pediatricians have expresses growing concern that, despite receiving treatment, some children continue to experience worsened emotional distress and increased suicidal thoughts. Suicide seems pretty irreversible to me.
Claim: 📢 Puberty blockers don't brainwash children.
Reality: 🔍Of course, we all know its social media and conditioning that brainwashes children not a pill. However, did you know puberty blockers can have a negative impact on neuropsychological functioning and IQ levels.
Supporting Evidence: 📚 A 2024 review by Dr Sallie Baxendale indicated that puberty blockers negatively impact cognitive and behavioral functions in animals, and lower IQ levels in humans. The abstract covering her findings impact of suppressing puberty on neuropsychological function can be found here.
Why all of This Matters 🌟
The cultural impact of these oversimplifications cannot be overstated. Memes like this one don’t just misinform; they contribute to a culture of misinformation and exclusion. Anyone who questions these narratives, even with facts and lived experience, are often ostracized, labeled as hateful, or cut out of the conversation entirely.
This has profound consequences. It silences critical voices, like detransitioners, who have firsthand knowledge of the risks and regrets associated with medical transition. It also reinforces echo chambers where dissent is not tolerated, stifling the kind of honest, open dialogue that is essential for addressing the true complexities of human experience.
The Path Forward 🛤️
To address the harm caused by this kind of toxic misinformation, I feel we each need to demand better as a society. Start holding each other and the places we spend our money accountable. However, the broader solution also lies in fostering respectful, constructive discussions that prioritize facts over feelings. While ensuring that information shared—especially with vulnerable populations like our youth—is both accurate and balanced.
The stakes are too high to let misinformation dominate the conversation. If we truly care about supporting young people and protecting their futures, we must be willing to engage in honest, evidence-based discussions, even when they’re uncomfortable.
"Gender affirming care" & puberty blockers are now being compared to last centuries' lobotomies & repressed memory therapies, as they leave @ risk youth sterilized, mutilated & committed to lifetimes as chemical regime patients, it's like athletes taking harmful steroids or non-diabetics being forced on insulin.
Great post. Just discovered it this afternoon. Thank you for being a voice of reason.
